• The thumb turn spins freely but the bolt does not move. The tailpiece connecting the thumb turn to the latch mechanism has sheared or slipped its cam. In Long Beach, we see this most often on 660 series locks after 6-10 years of use, accelerated by salt air corrosion of the zinc internals.
