• The key operates but the bolt does not retract fully. The internal bolt mechanism has corroded or the return spring has weakened. This is the failure mode we see most in Long Beach’s marine environment, where the zinc-plated bolt assembly eventually succumbs to salt-air exposure even behind a closed door.
